News: Freddy is coming in April

Wait for the 1:45 mark..
This is just the original.. I've been trying to look for the sequels' theme with the 80's pop synthesizers and electric drums with no luck.. it's the version I listen to so that it won't scare me.

One, two; Freddy's coming for you
Three, four; better lock your doors
Five, six; grab a crucifix
Seven, eight; gonna stay up late
Nine, ten; never sleep again

The remake is looking good!
Though the stupid trailer gave so much away.
Now we know that they've been awake so long that they will be certainly be attacked in their micro naps.

A Nightmare On Elm Street is the first in a series of films centered around teenagers being murdered by a dream-controlling monster known as Freddy Krueger.

In the original film, Nancy Thompson is an average teen girl who is experiencing bad dreams. After her friends (including Johnny Depp in his first acting role ever) are murdered one by one in their sleep, she confronts her mother, who tells her the horrible truth: Krueger was a child murderer who was burned alive in a vigilante killing by the parents of his victims after they realized that Freddy would go free due to the police forgetting to sign the search warrant. Naturally, Freddy wants revenge against the parents, and he decides to get his revenge by murdering their children in their dreams, where the parents can't protect them.

Directed by Wes Craven and starring Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, the film is considered by many to be a classic horror film.

I have the whole series on DVD. Yep, the first one is scary, but as the series progressed, it became kookier and laughable.
But even years after its filming, it's still creepy and some scenes will surely make you jump out of your seat, I can attest that Nigtmare on Elm Street is a quality horror film.

Things to try:
- Watch the whole series back to back. I did! Multiple times..
You're either going to have trouble sleeping, or sleep though everything hahaha
- Horror film drinking game
- Dress up like Freddy
- Make a molotov and create your own child killer

Movie Review: Miss You Like Crazy

I'm back! After a almost a year of laziness and work preventing me from writing movie reviews like before, the itch returned and this is me scratching it.
Well this is actually the third full movie I watched for the year, and I was unable to review the first two, Invictus and The Red Shoes. I'm unsure if I still want to write something about them.
I can't guarantee I'll write a review for every full movie I watch from now on, but I'll try.
Here we go:

2010 Movie Review #1
Feb 23, 2010

I was actually on my way home when Koi from OneCore received a call from @piamagalona, and she said she had some extra tickets to the movie.
Kapal naman my face so I asked if I could tag along. Premiere night at Megamall! Sweeeeet!

Star Cinema gave one more chance to the John Lloyd and Bea love-team in this movie directed by Ms. Cathy Garcia-Molina, who also directed JLC's more recent movies with Sarah Geronimo. (I just learned that this director likes having the leading lady wear wigs which I think is hilarious. Nice touch!)
The love team that gives everyone butterflies in the stomach and makes your hair stand on end is back in another song-title-turned-movie. Was it any good? let's see...

So..

Alan Alvarez (John Lloyd Cruz) is an account manager in the bank owned by the family of his girlfriend of four years, Daphne Recto (Maricar Reyes). While he's sure he loves her and has no regrets about the life and love he's chosen, he's been feeling restless and lonely, asking himself if this is the life he really wants.

Mia Samonte (Bea Alonzo) works as a front desk officer in a hotel in Malaysia. She and Alan have their fateful meeting on board the Pasig River Ferry. Mia is a breath of fresh air in Alan's otherwise stale and stifling existence.

Fate and faith, and time and timing are two of the themes discussed in the film. And yes, the idea of a whirlwind romance. Could you really fall in love with a stranger in a matter of days? And should that prove to be real, can your love withstand time and distance? Can that love survive the reality heartbreak brought about by history and an innate sense of responsibility and decency?

I actually came into this movie not watching a single trailer nor even seeing the poster. What I don't like about some local trailers is that they give so much away.
Anyways, let's sound it off:

- The movie for me was a little dragging, kinda predictable yet had kilig-moments that Filipinos will just eat up
- Some scenes were just too long and I found myself checking my phone, playing with my bucket of popcorn or chewing on my straw
- The movie buff in me says it's predictable but I still saw the genuine shock in the audience as events unfolded. So let me know if your found it predictable like I.
- There's just something with these actors, but every move makes the audience scream.. (no not me, i pramis! haha)
- The Support cast did their part and I especially liked Ketchup's character, ang kulit!
- Then I hope Ina Feleo does well also. I remember her on stage when I was still in school. She's very talented.
- I enjoyed One More Chance a little more than this. I think it's not really something you'll remember years from now

GRADE = 6.5 / 10

Well, that's just my opinion. What the hell do I know?
I still encourage you guys to watch it. It's still an enjoyable movie.
And I assure you, the song will get stuck in your head for a while!

Coco Mania

The #I'mwithCoco movement is just so huge.

Conan O'Brien created his Twitter account earlier today and now has over 200,000 followers just 7 hours after his first and only tweet so far..

This is just amazing!

What will he tweet next?

How many more followers will he get before he tweets again?

Will Jay take this away from him as well?

at the bar

Last Saturday night, I helped out a friend and shot peeps at Amber Ultra Lounge.

Now, what in the hell is an Ultra Lounge?
ah.. it's a disco-disco, a club.
I was there by 10pm to shoot people there. Okay fine, I shot the girls there. I took photos so that they can have a chance to win gift certificates and tickets to Boracay!
Once they heard those lines, they were putty in my hands.. but that's a different story.
And well, I can't upload the pics here, I gave it all to the organizers.

Anyways, my post today is about how I'm not really into the clubbing scene. I don't like how it's super crowded and the how the music is blasted at full power. I'm more of the hang-out-at-a-bar type of guy.

Though there aren't as many English type pubs here in Manila, as most Filipinos can drink anywhere. They can even drink diyan lang sa kanto.

If you have a little more money and want a place with ambiance, there are plenty of hip and happening bars all around the metro. There's more seats and you can really lounge and hang out, but they still blast the music so you do less talking and more drinking.

Here's my bar photos reminiscent of the opening scene of How I Met Your Mother

I'm going to UNO Pizzeria Restaurant & Bar, for its Speed Dating Event on Feb 11, 2010

This is my second time to try this thing out. The first time was 3-4 years ago and it was kinda corny. It was an inter school thingy where the girls I "dated" were just sitting-in since they were the organizers and there was a shortage of girls. So the dates weren't as enjoyable as I had hoped. They were too busy thinking about the event.

Anyways, I'm accompanying a few girl-friends. They said they needed a guy to fend off the creeps and weirdos, and I was happy to be that guy.

So what happens in a speed dating event?
An equal amount of guys and girls are paired up and given 3 minutes to sell themselves for a chance for sparks to fly. Sounds good right? You get to meet a large number of the opposite sex in a time frame thats long enough for you to dig deeper into that first sighting but short enough so that you can't make a complete fool out of yourself. With the variety of choices and controlled environment, it would seem ideal to at least lead to a second meeting.

But, in reality, people never prepare for things like this. Common advise from friends would dictate to the participants to be themselves but to put their best foot forward.

So two nervous people being so self conscious, looking for the questions thats more meaningful than "Where you from?, what do you do" would struggle the first minute or two, and once they get the hang of things, *ding*, next date....

So I'll just skip all that and make a game out of this..
So here I am planning ways to entertain my self in those 30+ dates I'm going to have.
I'll try these on different dates..

  • Start the date with Joey's "How you doin?" line and answer all her questions with a smile
  • Speak in Japanese
  • Just eat the pizzas they're going to serve in front of her for 3 minutes
  • Talk to the girl in the next table
  • Talk to the guy in the next table
  • Show her the Lemon Law card
  • Surf the net on my Blackberry
  • Read Twilight to her
  • Rip a big one and blame it on her
  • Mirror her every move and repeat what she says in a maarte accent
  • Tell her an extravagant but semi-believable lie about myself and who I am. Tell her I lied right before the date ends
  • Be brutally honest. Then tell her I lied about everything right before the date ends
  • Talk like Mike Enriquez.... Pasok!
  • Act drunk..
  • Get drunk!
  • Take a shot every time she stutters or says Um
  • A few moments into the date, I'll check my phone and say I just won the lotto! Act like maniac!
  • Talk in j0l0gZ TxT language..Elo p0h! MuZta na U?

Add your suggestions in the comments section!

Hahahaha
anyways, don't think I can do all these. I'll just enjoy whatever happens.

UPDATE: FEB 16, 2010:

Well, the short story is, it didn't happen.
Speed dating became slow-dating with the person in front of me, who happens to be my friend Clars who invited me there.
They scheduled it 7-10pm but there were less than 20 people till 930pm. By 10pm, we decided to leave, and that's when they wanted to start. We said thanks, but no thanks.

We had some food, we took their giftbags, and I took home a small basket of booze I won in a drinking game.
I won in a drinking game #fb on Twitpic

Eating #fb on Twitpic
We met two new people, a magician and a lovely young girl, but that was that.

Empty House means Studio

Ira had me shoot him for his After Shots.
He completed 90 days of the P90X program
There was an improvement, as he was HUGE from his American diet. (He was in the states for a while)

He just did the lean program, and he didn't really watch his diet.
It's true, you can't just work out, you need to complement it with a proper diet.

As for me, I'm on day 30.
Yeah, I haven't been following the diet strictly, but at least I feel stronger.
I still need to work double time if I want that beach bod!
